While parasailing in Destin, Florida, YouTuber Michael Morrison filmed something extraordinary in the waters below. As Michael glides over the ocean, you’ll begin to notice a mass of something appearing right at surface level. As he gets closer you’ll get a good glimpse of the phenomenon that’s occurring – a stingray migration. They seem to be on their way towards the Gulf of Mexico.
According to the Daily Mail, Golden Cownose rays migrate twice a year – in late spring and in late autumn. The rays migrate in groups (‘fevers’) of up to 10,000 as they navigate towards new waters, looking for an abundance of food and an opportunity to mate. Check out the video below to see this migration in action. I don’t know about you, but I’ve certainly never seen this many stingrays in the same vicinity. It’s a pretty incredible sight!
