Cancer Survivor Wakes Up After Amputation Surgery, Then Tells His Mom ‘I Want A Dog With 3 Legs’

Sometimes, knowing you’re not alone can be the best way to get through the tough times. For 12-year-old Quinn Scharn, it meant everything.

Quinn had already fought cancer twice in his life before the age of 13. Despite his challenges, he remained hopeful. During his second battle, he had his right leg amputated.

When he woke up from surgery, there was only one thing that he wanted: a 3-legged dog.

In the video below, posted on March 6, 2017, ” Quinn explains, “After the surgery, I wanted a dog with 3 legs. That’s the first thing I said when I woke up.”

Wanting her son to be happy after all he had been through, Quinn’s mom, Gina Knepp, searched everywhere for a 3-legged dog. She ended up finding a dog named Logan on Facebook and knew he was the one. She pulled Quinn out of school and drove him to Sacramento, California, to pick up his new companion.

Unfortunately, by the time they had arrived at Logan’s shelter, he had already been reserved by someone else.

Quinn and Gina decided to wait, so they sat down inside the shelter. Soon, the woman who had reserved Logan that day changed her mind. The 3-legged dog they had been searching high and low for was finally all theirs.

Quinn’s family adopted Logan, and they quickly bonded over their missing limbs. Logan was found as a young stray with a broken leg and also went through his own amputation before he was put up for adoption.
